Can a voyage still be optimized when the vessel is operating according to charterparty speed and consumption requirements?

The answer is yes.

A charterparty may define the commercial and operational framework for a voyage, but it does not remove the impact of weather, route selection, engine load or daily operational decisions.

Even when the vessel is operating against an agreed consumption target, voyage optimization can help reduce weather exposure, improve achievable speed, provide greater ETA certainty and support a better documented voyage outcome.

What does charterparty optimization mean?

Voyage optimization under charterparty does not mean disregarding the agreed performance terms. It means identifying the safest and most efficient way to operate within them.
